Surah Al-Muminoon 4: ** ‘And those who believe and do righteous deeds, for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow, they will abide therein forever, and Allah is pleased with them.’ This verse connects **righteous deeds**, including Sawm, with **divine favor** and the promise of **eternal bliss**.

The Prophet’s Example (The Importance of Sawm)

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself was an ardent believer in the importance of Sawm. **His own struggle with hunger and thirst during the month of Ramadan** served as a powerful example for his followers. He emphasized the **spiritual benefits** of fasting, stating: ‘Fasting is a shield, for it protects you from the Fire.’ (Tirmidhi)

The Prophet also highlighted the **importance of patience and self-control** during Ramadan. He said: ‘The believer’s reward is for his intention. If he fasts for the sake of Allah, then he will be rewarded.’ (Sahih Bukhari)
